ANDREW YANG – The First Asian-American President? Andrew Yang is running for president, and he wants to give you $1000 a month. No questions asked.

Yang wants to be President of the United States in 2020. Here are some of the things he’s fighting for:

1. UBI

What is UBI? UBI is a set of guaranteed payments of one thousand per month or twelve thousand per year to all U.S. citizens over the age of 18, no questions asked.

..and because it’s universal, there is no stigma attached, it’s not a rich to poor transfer and it’s wildly popular in a conservative state. So what we have to do is we have to make it a right of citizenship for all Americans and do what they are doing in Alaska with oil money, with technology money, for all.

2. MEDICARE FOR ALL

Yang believes we need to provide high-quality health care to all Americans. And a single-payer system is the most efficient way to accomplish that.

So certainly health care has been a massive, uh, well it’s the number one cause of bankruptcy for individuals around the country still. We’re spending twice as much as other countries on worse care by the numbers. And so the fact that people are proposing sweeping changes I think is very much appropriate and grounded in the way people are experiencing our system right now.

3. ROBO-CALLING TEXT LINE

In an effort to minimize annoying telemarketer calls, a robocalling text line would be created that helps the FCC investigate and find harassing telemarketers.

4. LGBTQ RIGHTS

Yang has said who you love and how you love are up to you. The law should recognize and protect LGBTQ individuals.

5. COMMUNITY COLLEGE, AFFORDABLE TO ALL

Yang believes community colleges should be funded at a level to make tuition free or nearly free for anyone. Especially those who are taking vocational classes.

6. INCREASED TEACHER SALARIES

Yang hopes by paying teachers more, will be an effective way to get more talented people in the classroom. By improving the quality of teachers in our public education system and incentivizing them to improve their craft, educational outcomes will improve.

7. SUPPORT THE DREAM ACT

Yang believes we need to find a solution that allows undocumented children to be assimilated into America without the fear of deportation.

8. LEGALIZE MARIJUANA

Yang believes we should proceed with full legalization of marijuana and pardon those in jails for non-violent marijuana-related offenses.

I would pardon everyone who’s in jail for a non-violent drug-related offense. I would pardon them all on April 20th, 2021 and I would high-five them on the way out of jail.

9. FIGHT FOR EQUAL PAY

Yang wants the federal government to do more to ensure that anyone performing the same work in substantially similar situations should receive equal pay.

“I am the first Asian-American man to run for president as a Democrat and I’m very proud of my heritage and being Asian-American. But I think my race is essentially a non-factor for most of the Americans I talked to around the country. They’re just looking for someone whose vision will improve their lives day-to-day, and in the lives of their families. And that’s I think what most Americans are looking for.”
